Kenton County School District Security Assessment

In recent years, school districts across the nation have received increased attention from students, faculty, and parents concerning enhanced security in and around campus properties. In response to these concerns, Kenton County Schools took steps to not only provide world-class education but also to improve the safety and security of their schools.

CMTA conducted Electronic Safety & Security assessments in all 17 district school facilities. These assessments included recommendations on electronic access control, video management monitoring, and other security initiatives.

The KCSD Board of Education responded by implementing the plans and recommendations throughout the district for all 17 schools. This includes a fully integrated, district-wide security system that utilizes multiple analytics and features push notifications from centralized servers. Over 2,000 security cameras, both internal and external, were installed. Access control was implemented for all exterior doors at all the schools. The system includes lockdown features that when activated will lock all doors and disable entry by anyone other than law enforcement and first responders. Otherwise, there is free egress at all times.

This project is the first in the state to incorporate and exceed the 2019 School Safety and Resiliency Act security requirements. CMTA is passionate about school safety and is proud to have partnered with Kenton County Schools and The Center for School Safety on this project.
