CMTA celebrated Ken Seibert’s retirement from his role as President in January 2021. Ken joined CMTA in Lexington, KY after graduating from the University of Kentucky in 1983 and worked his way up from a graduate engineer to be the managing partner and founder of the CMTA Louisville office in 1990. He became president of CMTA in 2006.
In his 37-year career Ken led CMTA to grow from a small, local engineering practice to one of the largest, most accomplished engineering and performance contracting firms operating in the United States today. He established himself and CMTA as a national expert in energy efficient, sustainable building design and has had a profound impact on national standards for building energy efficiency. The most prestigious awards in the building engineering industry are given by ASHRAE, a 57,000-member organization across 132 countries. ASHRAE awards 15 National Technology awards each year. Under Ken’s leadership, CMTA has become the second most awarded ASHRAE firm of all time.
As a pioneer in the area of zero energy buildings, Mr. Seibert continues to speak at events and author articles to promote optimizing and reducing energy use in the built environment. He has testified before the U.S. Congress on the subject and is a co-author of two Advanced Energy Design Guides for K-12 Schools.
The University of Kentucky College of Engineering named Mr. Seibert to its Hall of Distinction in 2015. The Hall of Distinction recognizes and honors those alumni who have demonstrated distinguished engineering professional accomplishments, outstanding character and commitment to community service. Mr. Seibert graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is a member of the Pi Tau Sigma honor fraternity.
In 2022, The Zweig Group awarded Ken Seibert the Jerry Allen Award for Courage in Leadership.
