Each year, CMTA submits projects from across the U.S. for American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Technology Awards – which recognize outstanding engineering project achievements by members who have successfully applied innovative building design in the areas of occupant comfort, indoor air quality, and energy conservation, incorporating ASHRAE standards where applicable.
These awards aim to highlight the design and implementation of innovative technological concepts proven through actual operating data. Each project requires a year of building operation and supporting energy data to be provided as part of the submission and qualification process.
These awards are honored first at the regional level, and first-place winners qualify to submit for National ASHRAE Society Technology Awards. The categories include:
- Commercial Buildings (New, Existing, Existing Building Commissioning)
- Institutional Buildings (New, Existing, Existing Building Commissioning)
- Health Care Facilities (New, Existing, Existing Building Commissioning)
- Industrial Facilities or Processes (New, Existing, Existing Building Commissioning)
- Public Assembly (New, Existing, Existing Building Commissioning)
