CMTA Boston Opens Second Office in the Heart of the City

As demand for CMTA Boston’s energy-efficient design and expertise in high-performance buildings grows, so too does our footprint: We are pleased to announce the opening of our second office in the Boston metro area at 170 Milk Street. The new outpost in Boston’s Financial District enables CMTA to have a downtown presence in addition to its 35-person office in Framingham and provides proximity to city clients and many amenities.

Formerly a grain mill from the early 1800s, the building was designed by iconic Boston architect Charles Bulfinch, who also famously designed the domed center building of the U.S. Capitol. CMTA’s office maintains a warm, historic feel with exposed brick and wood timber beams. Large windows offer gorgeous views and ample natural light. The office comprises individual workspaces, small meeting rooms, and gathering space for collaboration—plus a ping-pong table.

CMTA Boston looks to hire engineers who have a passion for cutting-edge, energy-efficient design. Employees enjoy an office within walking distance of the Rose Kennedy Greenway, New England Aquarium, Faneuil Hall, Boston Harbor Hotel, and International Place. Foodies will be delighted by the Granary Tavern, a renowned gastropub located in the building, as well as a host of excellent walkable restaurants. And the office is a short walk to many T stations, including the Aquarium Station, Government Center Station, South Station, and North Station.

As a leader in energy-efficient design, the Boston office's most impactful work includes multiple zero-energy projects that are firsts in the region: Buckley Elementary and Mansfield Elementary in Connecticut and Brockton Behavioral Health Center in Massachusetts for Boston Medical Center. In addition to its zero-energy design work, CMTA Boston is also the decarbonization partner for the Town of Andover, Town of Arlington, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and UMass Dartmouth.

Candidates who are energized by the prospect of innovative thinking in a smart, collaborative environment in the heart of Boston are encouraged to apply.
