Encompassing 160,000 square feet, the new William K. Schubert, MD Mental Health Center positions Cincinnati Children’s Hospital as the largest inpatient mental health provider of any children’s health system in the nation. CMTA provided MEP engineering for this state-of-the-art healthcare facility.
This high-performance replacement center is 68% larger than the current inpatient facility on Cincinnati Children’s College Hill campus. Offering patient-centric features, its 83 private rooms provide families with the opportunity to meaningfully engage with their children and even stay overnight throughout the treatment process. Designed with patient movement in mind, the building emulates a typical school environment, ensuring a consistent change of scenery throughout the day. Additionally, the facility includes specialized spaces for group, speech, occupational, and recreational therapies, along with expanded support for patients with neuro-developmental disorders. Emphasizing sustainability, the facility operates at an efficient 70 EUI.
