Diagnostic Imaging Clinic

Mayo Clinic Health SystemMankato, Minnesota

Faced with growing patient demand, the Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) in Mankato decided to transition their outpatient imaging services to a new, free-standing diagnostic imaging center. This 15,000 SF facility not only reduces congestion at the main hospital campus but also allows room for future expansion and flexibility.

Formerly a retail space, the center was outfitted to accommodate equipment for X-ray, computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography and computed tomography (PET-CT), and two magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines. The center also includes patient rooms for scan preparation and a warm and inviting lobby area decorated with plant walls. Transitioning diagnostic imaging services to this outpatient facility has streamlined processes, improving efficiency for both staff and patients.

To support this transformation, extensive renovations were undertaken to repurpose the space. The facility is served by two indoor-mounted central station air handling units (AHUs) equipped with hot water coils and DX cooling. A new fire suppression system was also installed to ensure safety and compliance. CMTA played a critical role in this project, providing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering services to adapt the space and integrate the complex requirements of advanced medical imaging equipment seamlessly.
