This project is part of an ongoing Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract project with the government of Fairfax County, Virginia. The third phase of the project involves renovations at Reston Community Center. The scope for this 49,997 SF facility includes the following:
- Installation of a 98.55 kW rooftop solar photovoltaic array
- Replacement of the hot water plant equipment with new boilers, pumps, and variable frequency drives
- Upgrade of the existing lighting system with LED fixtures and replacements
- Implementation of new boiler plant controls and additional controls sequences
- Installation of an electrical vehicle (EV) sub panel for future charger potential
- Installation of two submeters on cooling tower equipment to accurately measure evaporated water and gain sewer credit from utility company
The third phase scope also includes the 83,620 SF Franconia Recreation Center and the 62,730 SF Oakmont Recreation Center. Renovations at these facilities include the following:
- Renovation of hot water plant equipment for both facilities
- Installation of BACnet direct digital controls (DDC) system with programmed sequences of operation for both RECenters, integrated into the existing BAS
- Replacement of rooftop HVAC units at both facilities
- Replacement of 3 electric transformers at Oakmont RECenter
- Replacement of pool dehumidification units at both RECenters with new hot water direct expansion units
- Replacement of pool water heat exchanger for Franconia RECenter
- Improvement of thermal boundaries for both facilities with tighter building seals, improving the overall building envelope
- Retrofit of 12 sink faucets for Oakmont RECenter
