Applied Predictive Technologies, Inc. (APT), an analytics software company owned by Mastercard needed a new headquarters space that fostered collaboration and flexible work styles. Located in the Ballston neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia, APT occupies 128,000 square feet on five and half contiguous floors. CMTA provided MEP engineering services and IT/AV technology design for this multi-phased office relocation.
The office design features interactive displays and technology is organized into interconnected patterns and represented through custom design. The lobby focal point is a futuristic pixelated light fixture juxtaposed with rich wood and a living wall behind the reception desk. This pixelated light element is repeated above the four-story staircase. A flexible, large cafe on the top floor opens to the adjacent training room to hold meetings and events. The four-story, interconnecting stair acts as the vertical main street and heart of the space on each floor with adjacent pantries, lounge areas, and a tech stop called the byte bar. The space has 19 conference rooms named after famous mathematicians, two game rooms complete with a Lego play wall and four employee break areas.
MEP design features included lighting with all LED and modern lighting controls, power design, new VAV’s for space comfort control, critical cooling utilizing chilled water base building system for server rooms, and plumbing design to support buildout of pantries, nursing room, and café.
